About Me

Jonna Mogab, LCSW

I am a caring, highly qualified, and spiritually conscious therapist who provides calm, empathic presence, intuitive insight, and encouragement to those seeking to strengthen their sense of Self and express their highest potential. My work is grounded in the understanding that though we each have an essential spiritual core Self, our personality is comprised of many parts that are often pulling in different directions. Until we learn to lead from Self-energy, we may think, feel, and behave in ways that seem to negatively impact or even sabotage our highest intentions as well as our relationships. My goal as therapist is to facilitate your ability to live in the state of internal joy and harmony that results from Self-leadership. I am also certified in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of trauma and other painful or highly charged memories, experiences, and relationships. In practice for 30+ years, I began my clinical work as an addiction counselor in the early 1980's, graduated from Loyola University School of Social Work in 1991, and completed an Advanced Psychodynamic Clinical Practice Certification at the University of Chicago. I completed training in Internal Family Systems through the Center for Self-Leadership and was certified in EMDR treatment through the EMDR Institute.

My treatment specialties include: addiction (both with the addict and those whose lives have been affected by another’s addiction); trauma; emotional dysregulation or constriction; relationship problems (including sexual orientation or gender issues); parenting coaching; and dissatisfaction with one’s career or life path.

My interpersonal style is one of unconditional acceptance, honesty and humor. Clients thrive in response to my natural inclination to see and encourage their best and highest potential. My use of EMDR can facilitate quite rapid resolution of painful memories and relationships, trauma, and negative beliefs about the self.

I use cognitive and behavioral interventions when appropriate to assist my clients to develop practical skills and move through challenging life situations. I am very familiar with and work collaboratively with 12-step programs.
